Clameur Du Cinema and Thinking On Your Feet present an evening dedicated to the author, and Guernsey resident, Samuel Youd who wrote apocalyptic tales, including A Wrinkle in the Skin, The Death of Grass and the classic young adult trilogy The Tripods, under the pen name John Christopher.
In conversation with local tour guide Keith Pengelley, we’ll discuss Youd’s life in Guernsey, his work and legacy before screening Cornel Wilde’s No Blade of Grass (1970), the cult apocalypse movie based on The Death of Grass.
If you pre-book tickets you will be entered into a draw for the chance to win a collection of Youd’s work including A Wrinkle In The Skin (new edition), The Death of Grass, The Winter Swan and Sarnia (writing as Hilary Ford).
A new edition of A Wrinkle In The Skin is being relaunched at the Guernsey Literary Festival by Nick and Rose Youd. Event information can be found here.
The screening takes place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019 at the newly restored The Frossard Theatre, Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery. Tickets cost £7 and you can Book Here.
Proceeds from this event will go towards the restoration of the final resting place of 2nd Lt. Desmond Mulholland MC within St Martin’s parochial cemetery.
